Carlos is president and co-founder of In Your Ear and began his career in recording as a teenager playing studio sessions. He attended classes at VCU School of Music until his session schedule pulled him into the music business fulltime. Working as a recording and maintenance engineer for the legendary Alpha Audio, he eventually branched into working at other studios with clients like the Rolling Stones, Pat Benatar, Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and many others. Carlos' interests are wide and span electronics, software development, and playing keyboards and drums. He is best known however for his music composition and production. Carlos compositions include three scores for Superbowl Commercials, hundreds of themes and scores for ad clients including Coke, McDonalds, Sprint, Walmart, Total Wine, Purina, Kraft, GEICO and many others. He co-wrote the tourism music for Virginia Is For Lovers, North Carolina's tourism theme and Visit Florida. He is also credited with the logo theme for Sesame Workshops. He is now co-heading the VCU Advanced Media Production and Technology (AMPT) program.
Paul began his career in audio at the ripe age of 20. After graduating with an arts degree in audio recording from Northeast Tech, he moved to Richmond and began working as an engineer at the historic Alpha Audio. While at Alpha he worked on sessions with the likes of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, The Temptations, legendary guitarist Danny Gatton and Gwar. As well as recording music, this is where he cut his teeth creating both local and nation ads. Fast forward over thirty five years and thousands of radio and television spots later, Paul resides at IYE as a charter member and Chief Engineer working on everything from animations to documentaries, feature films to national television series. Paul opened up the first Pro Tools studio for IYE and since then has worked on over 150 different movies and television shows and has had the opportunity to work with such artists as Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sir Ridley Scott, Gary Rydstrom, Evan Rachel Wood, Sissy Spacek, Julia Ormand. Brittany Murphy, Jamie Bell, Jay Mohr, James Spader, Mike Henry, Mandy Patinkin, Claire Danes, D'angelo, 50 cent and many more. Paul's creativity, dedicated service to his clients and constant commitment to high quality sound has served the recording industry with many sonic contributions to the world of advertising, the music industry, television industry and motion pictures.
Andrea is a graduate from the VCU Kinetic Imaging Department where she was trained in sound design, video post-production, and web design. Andrea started working with IYE shortly after graduation and acts as an audio engineer, video editor, Web and social media guru and foley artist . She even keeps a suitcase full of shoes in her office, just in case! In 2013 she co-founded an independent film company, The Traveling Cartwheel Circus, and completed their debut film Hill Of The Hapersnoks. Andrea is also heavily involved with IYE's educational offerings, including the Mastering Cubase web series and the AMPT Certificate program. She specializes in dialog editing for podcasts, independent films, and the TV show The Good Road. In 2022 she became the Chief Technology Officer for Shockoe Records, and every Tuesday night she acts as Director and Live Switcher for the streaming music show Shockoe Sessions Live!
Kathy is the hub of In Your Ear and coordinates and books time and talent for the studios. She is an expert casting and talent negotiator and one of Central Virginia's most knowledgeable production resources. Kathy came to In Your Ear through the legendary Alpha Audio (as many of our core people did) heading up their sales division for acoustical products. Kathy's talent negotiation have included broadcast production rights for performances from groups such as Fall Out Boy and countless professional actors and voice talent. She deals with AFTRA, SAG and books sessions all over the world to accommodate the talent request of our clients needs.
Reese Williams has been a voice actor for over 25 years. She enjoys this work because it allows her to be obnoxiously animated, yet socially acceptable. She’s lent her talent to live radio, animation, mobile apps, voicemails, commercials, corporate videos and backup singing vocals. She’s the Studio Ambassador for In Your Ear Studios and Chief Communications Officer for Shockoe Records, so now she gets to run her mouth about her beloved audio industry for a living. She hosts the live stream concert series Shockoe Sessions Live, and its companion podcast This Room Sounds Great, and she produces and hosts her own podcast titled Spying on Humanity.
Tom is a newcomer to In Your Ear and recent graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory’s Music Production and Recording Technology Program. Tom fell in love with music while playing bass in rock bands in high school, which led him to study the audio arts in college. Between semesters Tom gained experience recording rap artists in his home city of Pittsburgh, PA. For Tom, one of the best parts of recording music is working with artists of all different backgrounds, genres and budgets.
